Started in 2007 at Pinewood Middle School with only a handful of students by music director Eric Hudson, the Anything But Classical (ABC) Orchestra broke new ground with middle-school students learning to play all of the alternative styles of music, ranging from fiddle to jazz to rock.  Now in its 10th year, the main component of the program has moved to East Kentwood High School as a zero-hour class, with after school clubs meeting at all three middle schools.  This auditioned group consists of violins, violas, cellos, upright and electric bass, drums, piano, and electric guitar.  The ABC Orchestra serves as a point of pride for Kentwood Public Schools, having been featured on Fox 17 Morning News and in the Grand Rapids Press, and has released two full-length albums, “Unpacked” and “Moving On.”img_6634
